rentals may be available from December 2009 to March 2010.
If you are looking for a
place in Mexico to stay for an extended period of time, Campeche has some
options for you. There are apartments and houses for rent in town and
some houses for rent on one of the nearby beaches. Because Campeche is
still relatively unknown as a winter destination, there are no developments
specifically designed for this purpose yet. Therefore, the rentals you can
find are owned by local families who either use them for their own
recreation and rest (ocean front homes) or as investments (properties in
town).
Our rentals contact in Campeche
City, has several beach front homes available for rent from December to
March or April (before Easter). These homes are situated in Playa Mar Azul, about half
an hour from the City of Campeche. Depending on the size of the
house, rates go from $400 usd/week $1,200usd/month for a one or two bedroom house to
about $600 usd/week $2,100 usd/month for a three bedroom. Rates may vary
slightly depending on the US $ and the Peso $ exchange rates.

Do not expect luxury villas here
though. If luxury expensive villas is what you want, Campeche is not
the place for you yet. Luxury villas in Mexico go for about USD
$10,000 per month or more in the winter. Campeche is not quite there
yet which is a big part of its charm. You will not see crowds of tourists
here and absolutely no time-share sales people in every corner like in some
Mexican resort cities. The homes at Mar Azul vary from rather
rustic to very well maintained properties. Most of the homes are
furnished and some owners can provide water sports equipment and even boats.
The kitchens are equipped with the basics: refrigerator, range, cupboards.
You can purchase your groceries in various stores in town including a Sam's
Club.
Away from the beach there are
other options, albeit few at the moment. In the area called IMI, some 15
minutes from the Historic Downtown District, you can rent a beautiful

expenses in Campeche we suggest you use American currency. Unfortunately our
looney is not traded much in Mexico so the exchange rate is not great.
Better to purchase American dollars, travellers cheques or use your credit

Weather in the area from December to March is warm and
balmy. Highs of around 25/30 centigrade; Lows of about 15/18 centigrade.
Towards the end of March it starts getting warmer and by May it is very very
hot.
