Grupo MBA is the largest local real estate company in
Campeche City. Established by Martha Buenfil with a couple of
partners, Grupo MBA has been serving the Campeche and Mexican markets
selling properties in the state for several years. In recent years,
with the increase in international visits to Campeche and a growing demand
for holiday, winter and retirement properties Grupo MBA has been working
hard to improve their service in order to look after international buyers'
needs. They are working on complementing their staff with English
speaking personnel and in the future there are plans to hire French and
German speakers.

in order to give our online visitors the right tools to make informed
decisions. For example, we always strongly recommend that purchasers
buy Title Insurance for their Mexican properties. The largest company
in this field operating in Mexico is the American firm Stewart Title.

offices in Mexico.
For the individual buyer there may be many opportunities
to buy land or fixer-upper properties in Campeche and surrounding areas. Prices in
2006 may still be a bargain for North Americans and Europeans.
However, in a few years time, prices will be more comparable to other areas
of Mexico, like San Miguel de Allende or the Pacific Maya. All you have to do is look at the 85 million baby boomers in the
US and Canada retiring within the next 5 to 20 years to realize the kind of
demand there will be for winter and retirement homes as well as leisure
services. Add European baby boomers to the mix and the
numbers are staggering (Compared to the South of Spain, this part of
Mexico is extremely inexpensive at the moment)
Currently (2008), prices for heritage buildings in
Campeche City (if there are any for sale) range from approximately CAN $180,000 (approx USD $180,000,
approx € 120,000) to over CAN $1,000,000 (USD
$1,000,000 € 650,000). Most of these buildings need refurbishing
or renovations (restoration) depending on the use you may want to give them.
You must be aware that any work done on these buildings must be pre-approved
by Mexico's National Institute of History and Anthropology because of their
Mexican and World Heritage designation.
Prices for homes outside the
downtown historical district vary depending on location, but good three
bedroom homes can be found for approx CAN $120,000 (USD$120,000 € $81,000).
Residential lots in some areas may cost between CAN $0.95 (USD $0.95 € 0.65)
per sq.ft. up to CAN $9.5 (USD $9.5 € 6.5) per sq ft depending on
location and services available.
